about Christen

I was often the only kid in a sea of adults in summer art classes. I’ve loved art since I can remember and chose it as a past time as much as I could but I never thought I would be able to do this for a job. I went to Auburn University and received a BFA with a concentration in graphic design where I had lots of drawing, color theory and you guess it-water color classes! I worked at a publishing house right after graduation and while I loved magazine design, I did miss using my hands and getting messy. After I had my third son I began to teach preschool art; which eventually lead to me painting full time.

To me using my gift is a form of worship and fills me with such peace and joy! My desire is to somehow convey that onto the paper so that it may echo into the atmosphere of the home that it’s placed. I create to gaze at Him and hope in doing so others would do the same. May each piece bring you lots of peace and joy!

For other artists out there!

I love connecting with other artists and learning from those that have been doing this longer than me. Sometimes it can be overwhelming knowing what to do next when you are going it alone and when you connect with other like minded people it brings so much encouragement and often helps speed up the process.

If you’re an artist, I highly recommend Matt Tommey’s podcast “The Thriving Christian Artist” you can also find his courses at http://www.MattTommeyMentoring.com. He often interviews other artists around the world and brings much encouragement on living out your gifting for the kingdom.

I also love Bonnie Christine’s podcast “The Professional Creative” she adds so much practical content on how to run a successful art business. Plus she’s such a also a solid woman of faith and just so sweet to listen to. Find her at https://www.bonniechristine.com/podcasts/the-professional-creative
